Our aim this last summer term in the Music Department was to continue to give the girls an opportunity to perform. The Senior School took part in the Spring Fair, the Summer Soiree Concert, Masses and Speech Day. The Junior Years visited Fettes for an Orchestra Day, held their first Junior School Showcase and of course their School Show – Alice in Wonderland!
The Summer Soiree was an upbeat and lively event and besides the many varied and existing groups, we launched the Kilgraston Pipes and Drums. We have only a couple of girls on full pipes just now so we were delighted to have the help of the wider Kilgraston family to enable the band to start and two more girls should be ready to join after the summer!
The Juniors showed off all the music they had been learning in their Showcase. It is fantastic for the young people to have this platform and it is encouraging for the rest of us to hear such wonderful and joyful performances. There will be more Showcases to come!
