Equestrian Manager – Maternity Cover

Kilgraston School’s Equestrian Centre is looking for an Equestrian Manager to join the team to cover Maternity Leave. Kilgraston is the only school in Scotland with equestrian facilities onsite. The Riding Centre comprises of 14 stables, a tack room, a 40m x 60m all-weather floodlit arena, hacking track and a series of well fenced paddocks.

This is a full-time position for a suitably qualified (BHSAI or UKCCL2 essential) and experienced candidate to take responsibility for the organisation and management of our on-site equestrian facility.  They will oversee the provision of quality equestrian instruction and ensure that the stables and outdoor facilities are maintained and run to an exceptionally high standard.

The manager will run a busy school, line managed by the Head of Finance.  They should be able to manage the school Equestrian Team to gain the best from all pupils, irrespective of their ability and age.

Equestrian Manager Role Profile:

  • Tuition in all aspects of riding and stable management from beginner to advanced levels. Co-ordination and scheduling of all lessons, clinics, and camps.
  • Co-ordination of teams and organisation of competitions.
  • Licensing and insuring the centre as a riding school in accordance with local authority guidelines.
  • Implementation of health and safety procedures, risk assessments, rider registration and parental disclaimers, horse registration and livery agreements.
  • All aspects of horse welfare.
  • Sourcing of suitable horses and ponies.
  • Implementation of yard routine and regular ‘hands-on’ yard duties including mucking out, clipping, feeding and sourcing of feed.
  • Grassland management and maintenance.
  • Promotion of equestrian centre within the school and also to the wider community.
  • Management of equestrian staff and volunteers, including delivery of BHS course work and assessment preparation.
  • Organisation of Vets and Farriers.
  • Procurement and purchasing of consumables and equipment.
  • Budget management.

A competitive package, including use of school facilities, regular CPD training and the possibility of both onsite accommodation and livery for own horse is available. The successful applicant will be the senior staff member overseeing the Centre and the role will include some evening and weekend shifts.

Director of Music

Kilgraston is seeking an exceptional, well qualified and experienced Teacher for the position of Director of Music. The successful candidate will lead a highly successful department with an outstanding reputation for music. The Department has an excellent track record and the ability to offer National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher courses is essential.

Kilgraston is a thriving boarding and day school educating girls and boys from 5 to 12 years old and girls to age 18. The Director of Music will be responsible for music throughout the School and in addition will run an extensive Instrumental Music provision, co-ordinate the running of the Christmas Concert and all musical events throughout the year and lead the provision of music for Chapel services and assemblies.
