Breakfast Club with our Governors
Last week we welcomed our Governors to breakfast with the sixth form to meet them and discuss their futures in a relaxed and wonderful atmosphere.
Our thanks go to all the Governors who attended the event as our girls were so grateful for their time and words of wisdom.

Afternoon tea for the elderly
Last Sunday we were delighted to welcome Bridge of Earn residents to afternoon tea and entertainment at Kilgraston.
What a wonderful afternoon of conversation and music.

Netball News
Last week, we had an extremely busy schedule for Scottish Netball games. The senior girls played against Strathallan and won 35 - 14. Players of the Match - Catriona Roberts and Rebecca Wright.
Auchterarder School also came to play our L5 girls and what a great game it was. All through the game, the lead moved between the two teams and with less than 2 minutes to go Kilgraston were trailing 31 - 29. Great play and focus allowed us to fight back to 31 - 31 when the final whistle sounded.
Scottish Netball Cup
On Monday evening, the U4 girls played in the Scottish Cup against Perth Academy. After a tough game, Kilgraston lost 25 – 13. The girls played extremely well and fought hard until the end.
Swimming News
On Thursday 2nd November we played host to St Leonards School for a friendly swimming gala. We had swimmers competing from U11, U13 and U15 age groups swimming across all events and with some excellent individual performances, we won 39-32.
From an individual performance perspective, Shona Graham and Katherine Bailey have been performing very well and achieving PB improvements in their selected events. In recent galas, Katherine has elevated her UK Swimming ranking and is now 16th in Britain for short course 200m butterfly and 42nd in Britain for the short course 400m freestyle.
Also competing and performing well is Shona Graham who achieved a Gold medal in her 200m breaststroke and a Silver in her 100m breaststroke at the Carnegie 140th Anniversary Short Course Gala. In her other two events, the 400 IM and the 400 freestyle Shona took considerable time off her previous PB’s.
This weekend Shona swam in the Northern District Open Meeting which attracts the top swimmers from across Scotland and has fairly stringent qualifying criteria. In the 800m freestyle Shona took 9 seconds off her previous best and in the 400 freestyle Shona took another 6 seconds off her Carnegie time, again placing her in the top 10 in Scotland. She was second in her age group and placed 8th overall in the U17 category.
In the Tayside Schools event held at the Olympia pool in Dundee this week, both Shona and Katherine performed admirably, gaining medals in all events entered. Shona won gold in the 100m butterfly and Silver in the 200m breaststroke with Katherine earning 2 golds in the 200m butterfly and 100m butterfly respectively. For the first time, we entered a relay team at this district event and the team consisting of Katherine Bailey, Jeanie Stirling, India Howie and Maria Garcia Gomez did exceptionally well.
Of the thousands of swimmers that are registered in Scotland and the UK, only between 30 and 40 swimmers per event get accepted into these district events and out of those swimmers to finish in the top ten is such an achievement. Congratulations to the girls on their continued efforts, determination and associated successes.
Farming Life in Bridge of Earn
Last Thursday, two of our U4 pupils, Tallie Fyfe and Zara Burns, and pupils from Dunbarney Primary School gave 2 excellent performances of a musical based on farming life in Bridge of Earn during the 1940s to 1960s in the Bridge of Earn Institute. The audiences thoroughly enjoyed the informative performances and especially the singing.

Howe Country Centre Competition
Last weekend, 16 girls and their horses headed to Howe Country Centre in Fife to take part in a very busy day of team show jumping, organised by Strathallan School. It was noted on several occasions how smart both the girls and their ponies looked, they really are a credit to Kilgraston and it is always lovely to hear.
We had 2 teams entered in class 1, the 55cm, with Mischa Steele, Erin MacGregor and Olivia Kilic having 3 super clear rounds to win them the class, with 13 teams entered this is a fantastic achievement. Our second team of Lucy Helliker, Erin Johnston and Erin MacGregor (riding a 2nd pony) were just out of the rosettes after a bit of ‘sat nav’ error but some great riding from all the prep girls. Mischa and Erin were also both placed individually.
In class 2, the 70cm, we had 2 teams entered again. Mischa, Erin M, Charlotte Jeffrey and Flora Allan rode 3 super clear rounds again, but just not fast enough this time to pick up the trophy, but came 4th place overall. The second team of Frankie Home-Mossup, Millie Lockhart, Erin M and Mischa (on second ponies) had a couple of poles down meaning they just missed out on the placing, but Millie and her pony Bacardi had a very fast clear round leaving them in 7th place individually out of 74 competitors.
Class 3, the 85cm saw a massive 18 teams entered from schools and pony clubs all over Scotland, and Kilgraston came out with 1st place again from 4 excellent rounds from Issie Jeffrey, Flora Allan, Connie Wang and Frankie. It was great to watch such competitive riding from the girls and it really was a well-deserved win.
Class 4, the 1m class didn’t get going till 7pm and the Kilgraston team of Issie, Anna Smallwood and Poppy Currie were first to go. It sadly wasn’t their day with a couple of poles falling but still some great riding over a big track of fences.
