Howe Country Centre Competition
Last weekend, 16 girls and their horses headed to Howe Country Centre in Fife to take part in a very busy day of team show jumping, organised by Strathallan School. It was noted on several occasions how smart both the girls and their ponies looked, they really are a credit to Kilgraston and it is always lovely to hear.
We had 2 teams entered in class 1, the 55cm, with Mischa Steele, Erin MacGregor and Olivia Kilic having 3 super clear rounds to win them the class, with 13 teams entered this is a fantastic achievement. Our second team of Lucy Helliker, Erin Johnston and Erin MacGregor (riding a 2nd pony) were just out of the rosettes after a bit of ‘sat nav’ error but some great riding from all the prep girls. Mischa and Erin were also both placed individually.
In class 2, the 70cm, we had 2 teams entered again. Mischa, Erin M, Charlotte Jeffrey and Flora Allan rode 3 super clear rounds again, but just not fast enough this time to pick up the trophy, but came 4th place overall. The second team of Frankie Home-Mossup, Millie Lockhart, Erin M and Mischa (on second ponies) had a couple of poles down meaning they just missed out on the placing, but Millie and her pony Bacardi had a very fast clear round leaving them in 7th place individually out of 74 competitors.
Class 3, the 85cm saw a massive 18 teams entered from schools and pony clubs all over Scotland, and Kilgraston came out with 1st place again from 4 excellent rounds from Issie Jeffrey, Flora Allan, Connie Wang and Frankie. It was great to watch such competitive riding from the girls and it really was a well-deserved win.
Class 4, the 1m class didn’t get going till 7pm and the Kilgraston team of Issie, Anna Smallwood and Poppy Currie were first to go. It sadly wasn’t their day with a couple of poles falling but still some great riding over a big track of fences.Back to News
