Kilgraston Senior School 2023 Show – Fame!

Kilgraston Senior School 2023 Show was a legwarmer and leotard spectacle as pupils backflipped across the stage for top musical Fame!

It came fresh from the amazing performances by Junior Show pupils in ‘Annie’ and pulled together in little under a week, the show was testament to the incredible drive and focus of Kilgraston staff and pupils.

Pupils were unrecognisable in the outstanding costume and makeup and the Kilgraston Theatre transformed with the handiwork of the scenery team led by Mr Lapeyre.

Audiences were wowed by the talents of our pupils and in particular the crowd-pleaser and title track of ‘Fame!’. Well done to everyone for the colossal efforts and thank you to everyone who bought tickets to support this.

‘til next year…all together now…Fame!

Our guest speaker was Olympic athlete, Eilidh Doyle, who gave an insightful speech into her competitive experiences and urging pupils to make the most of opportunities, staying to true to what ignites flames of ambition. Kilgraston Sports Day 2023 - Juniors and Seniors

Sports Day 2023 did not disappoint. With all pupils taking part in a range of events, there was an excellent combination of competition and fun events on display. From the Sixth Form Tug of War to the blue ribboned 100m race, all our pupils were given an opportunity to shine. A highlight for many was the relays with the Junior staff challenging the Upper Third and the Senior staff racing the Upper Sixth. Both pupil teams were successful which means staff have some work to do on their sprinting technique! And of course, our parents egg and spoon races which are always highly contested.

A special mention to Libby, our piper, who led the school beautifully onto the athletics field and along the track for the presentations. A huge well done and thank you to all our athletes, staff and visitors for making the day such success.

Junior Years Summer Show 2023 - ‘Annie’

The Junior Years’ pupils have been working hard on the production of ‘Annie Jr.’ We have been performing this week and the experience has been fantastic. The rehearsal process has been busy but amazing. It all started in February with auditions and casting. Soon after that the preparation started with blocking the first scene and creating the choreography for ‘It’s The Hard Knock Life.’ After drama rehearsals we would go to music to perfect our songs and friends would learn their solo parts and learn pitches.

On Tuesday, we started to perform it on stage and each performance has become better and better. The quick costume changes and mic changes have been mastered and everything was perfect. It is a surreal feeling to stand up on stage projecting lines and speaking into a mic doing what we all love.

The Lower Fifth have been a huge help with hair and makeup, and we are very grateful to them. Some of the hair was a bit crazy but it felt like our characters were coming to life. When we take our final bow at the end of the show it is an amazing feeling! They are all cheering for us and our show.

The whole experience has been great and I am going to miss the rehearsals and the nerves before going on stage.

Upper Third would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved who has made this production possible. A special thanks goes to Mrs Murphy and Mr Morley.

KPA Summer Fair 2023

Kilgraston Sports Hall was recently transformed into a bustling hive of stalls and entertainment for the KPA Summer Fair. With a bouncy castle and the odd bag of sweets or two, attendees meandered amongst the stands. The booths were a mixture of local businesses such as Pop Fox Interiors and pupils own business such as Lower Four’s Connie who made over £150 for the stables with her book sale.

Outside Kilgraston’s Equestrian team and ponies, led by manager, Alasdair Matheson, were kept busy with the queue of excited children looking for a pony ride. Inside, after the paninis had sold out and the crowds were treated to entertainment from Mike’s Magic Show.

Thank you to the Kilgraston staff who helped with the set-up, to all the stall holders and businesses for their support and to the KPA committee.
