Kilgraston Cross Country 2023

The Kilgraston Cross Country 2023 took place with the school’s stunning countryside campus drenched in late summer sunshine and a cloudless sky.

This annual event sees all pupils take part with runners from our youngest class, Reception, lining up alongside the oldest Upper Sixth pupils. Following an energetic warm-up with PE’s Mrs Fraser, pupils lined up with the start line a sea of House colours. Vibrant yellows, roaring reds, proud purples and glorious greens took their positions and on Mrs Davie’s signal, they were off.

The event takes place around Kilgraston’s beautiful countryside campus with staff manning key markers on the route and parents, grandparents, guardians and family members cheering on the runners. It all about having fun, an intrinsic part of the Kilgraston ethos, and winning valuable house points, if you can. It is a sentiment which is well-embraced by Kilgraston Sixth Form who, each year, dress up in costumes to run.

It was a glorious day and a wonderful first whole school event for this academic year, 2023 - 2024. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to those who helped and who attended, cheering on the runners.

Kilgraston Cross Country 2022

We were delighted to welcome back our parents to support the Whole School Interhouse Cross Country event on Tuesday after an absence of spectators of three years. We enjoyed super weather and the course took all pupils from the Reception class to Upper Sixth around the beautiful campus here at Kilgraston.

We had an array of outfits from a green monster to an inflatable donkey as well as our competitive runners – it’s true to say everyone had fun! We had runners from all parts of the Kilgraston family and congratulations to Mr N Campbell who won the staff race.

The four houses of Inchcolm, Arran, Moncreiffe and Kinnoull battled for points in each age group with everyone who took part getting participation points too! The results are:

Whole School

1st Lexie Upper Sixth (Arran), 2nd Ishbel Upper Four (Kinnoull), 3rd Carlota Upper Four (Inchcolm).

Thank you to everyone for making the event such a success.

Kilgraston Cross Country 2021

Welcome to Kilgraston Cross Country 2021 event which we were delighted to see back in its usual format of the whole School running together.

It is the first of our House events with those all-important House points to be won. It is always a colourful and cheerful event and this year, thanks to Upper Sixth, we were even joined by a bunch of bananas and a few dinosaurs.

The sun seems to always shine for the Kilgraston Cross Country and after Miss Patton had concluded an energetic warm-up, the runners lined up at the start line before Mrs MacGinty signalled the start of the race.

It was fast and furious for some round the track and it was looking extremely close to call in places.

Well done to everyone who took part but huge congratulations to Upper Sixth’s Poppy for her first place, closely followed by Upper Fifth’s Greta in second and Lower Four’s Ishbel in third. In the Junior School, huge well done to Lower Second’s Conall for his superb and speedy first place.

Finally, thanks Mrs Ferry for all her organisation.

cross country 2020

Kilgraston’s annual cross country race took place albeit in a slightly different format this year due to COVID restrictions.

In stunning autumnal Scottish sunshine, Upper Third’s Ishbel stormed home to victory with Maia in Upper Third coming second and Lower Third’s Lilly coming in third.

Amidst blustery winds and cloudy skies, the Senior School cross country took place the following day with an impressive sprint finish seeing Lower Sixth’s Poppy crossing the finish line just in front of Upper Sixth’s Paula and Upper Sixth’s Abbie taking home third place.

The times then meant the overall cross country champion was Poppy with Paula coming second and Upper Fifth’s Lexie taking third place.

It is the first time the race has been split over two days as the entire School typically takes part together. However due to COVID, the School took measures to protect our pupils, with not only different race days but also staggered start times too.

The restrictions did not stop the cross country being its usual colourful and fun celebration with our pupils wearing their house colours, and a sea of red, green, purple and yellow spread around our beautiful countryside campus as the race took place.

Well done to all of our pupils who took part, and especially to our winners.

Here is our round-up of last year’s cross country event.
