Snowdrops and squirrels
On Sunday 22nd February, Kilgraston opened its grounds for the annual Scotland’s Gardens Snowdrop Festival. In addition to snowdrops quilting the ground of our woodland walks, Perth and Kinross Red Squirrel Group committee members Rhona Forrester and Kirsty Morris helped visitors learn about our resident red squirrel population.
There were all kinds of activities for children, including squirrel-themed giveaways, outdoor play area and nature-themed colouring-in and activities, and families enjoyed sheltering from the rain and enjoying a cup of tea and homebaking! The snowdrops were out in their hundreds, and many visitors braved the elements to stroll around our woodland walks and discover our statues and sculptures. All proceeds from the day were donated to Mary’s Meals, and to Scotland’s Gardens’ beneficiary charities.
