Annabel's mini marathon success

Annabel's mini marathon success

Annabel

Kilgraston’s Annabel Simpson traveled to London this weekend to take part in the London Mini Marathon - with great success. The following update is from Mrs. Simpson - Annabel’s mum:
Glimpsed Mo Farah!
There were 270 runners in Annabel’s race which was a combined British Athletics Road Championships (with 71 of the runners) and the London Borough Challenge. She ran the 3 miles in 17minutes36seconds, which was the second Scot time and 18th to finish in the age group. Her place helped Scotland U17 girls to 5th team placing.
We are delighted that she was competing against the best in Britain and did well.
The Scotland team had to travel all day Saturday for a night in Egham, Surrey and then had breakfast by 5.45am on Sunday to travel to London. Tom Daly started the Mini Marathon races. The Under 17s started at 9.16am. Annabel couldn’t believe the cheering. To see her running past Buckingham Palace was unforgettable!
The Scotland coach waited to leave for home in order that the Mini Marathoners would see the first Marathon runners. We arrived home at about 11pm last night. I had flown down on Friday morning and back on Sunday evening but Annabel had a lovely time on the team coach on Saturday and Sunday. Great camaraderie. All with their Mini Marathon finishers medals.
Congratulations to Annabel for doing so well in such a memorable race.
