Katherine B swimming success

Whilst everyone has been enjoying this awesome weather during the holidays Katherine Bailey has been training hard every day for her debut at the British Swimming Championships.

Katherine Bailey made her debut at the British Swimming Summer Championship 2019 this week held at Glasgow Tollcross International Pool swimming 200m Butterfly & 400m Freestyle which is the climate to the British swimming season & all live on YouTube & a packed paid audience watching.

On Thursday Katherine swam the 200m fly heats and hit a personal best of 2:21:49, setting another Scottish Midlands district record coming first in her heat to reach her first ever British final. Katherine beat her record of 8 hours earlier coming home in 6th position in a new district record of 2:20:86 - an amazing achievement of a 9 second improvement over the last six months.

On Saturday Katherine swim the 400m freestyle gaining her second final place of week with a heat swim of 4:32:41 to gain the 10th final spot. Katherine improved on her morning swim finishing a creditable 8th place in 4:29:84 just outside her personal best for the season of 4:28:92. - Katherine has made a massive improvement of 22 seconds in the last 3 months.

Katherine now gets a well-earned couple of weeks off training until 19th August and will no doubt undertake some warm weather training whilst on holiday in August to get ready for the new season.

Everyone at Kilgraston would like to congratulate her on achieving two British finals at the first attempt & all of the qualifying times for the Scottish Swimming National Squads and we await as no doubt as she does with excitement to see if she makes the national team for next season which are announced in August. All fingers crossed.

Well done Katherine – great achievements!
