Kilgraston off to a winning start…
Last weekend, the girls were delighted to get out and play their first games of the season against St Margaret’s, Aberdeen. There were lots of new girls taking up their sticks and representing the school so well done to them.
At home, our 1st XI won the game 7 - 0 with goals from Sasha, Emily, Ellie, Corrie and Abby. Our L5 team won 2 - 0 with Iona and Ciara scoring.
Away from home, our U3 won 6 - 0, L4 lost 9 - 0 and U4 lost 3 - 2 but great performances from the girls.
On Sunday, Kilgraston travelled to Glenalmond for their start of season tournament and Kilgraston scored an amazing 12 goals over 2 games, winning the tournament.
v Perthshire we won 5 – 0 with Catriona, Emily, Poppy, Ellie (2)
v Glenalmond we won 7 -0 with Rebecca (2), Emily, Corrie (2), Sasha and Michaela securing the win.
Well done girls, a fantastic start to the season.
Scottish Swimming’s District Regional Programme
Congratulations to Katherine Bailey (U4) and Shona Graham (L5 ) who have qualified for Scottish Swimming’s District Regional Programme.
The link is:

This is a great achievement as only 5 swimmers from Perth City qualified this year and the other 3 swimmers are in the lower age category. The qualifying times get tougher the older they get.
All the best to the girls again this term.
Future’s Cup
In August, two of our girls competed at the Future’s Cup event for hockey in St Albans, England.
Emily Dark was captain of the team called the Caledonian Cougars and performed very well. After a 4:4 draw, 2:0 win and the final v England’s Saxon Tigers ending in a 0:0 draw the Scotland Caledonian Cougars lost 4:3 on penalties. Emily’s team won the Silver medal and Emily was jointly awarded the tournaments leading goal scorer award with 3 others. Emily also received some fantastic news last weekend, being asked to attend the Scotland Senior National Ladies team squad training. To be called to a training session at only 17 years old is a magnificent achievement. Michaela McCarthy has also been enjoying a lot of time on the pitch in England too and had some outstanding performances.

Exam success at Kilgraston
Again there have been some commendable individual performances, not least amongst our musicians and sports girls. Grace Reilly, who has been our splendid Music Captain this year and Grade 8 musician in two instruments, achieved straight A grades in her Advanced Higher examinations and is now set to study medicine at Dundee University. Emily Dark, Lower Sixth (S5), at the age of 16 has played for Scotland Under 21 hockey team this year and achieved five A grades in her Highers. Similarly, Daisy Fonicello who became Scottish Fencing Champion this year also achieved five straight A grades in her Highers.
Kilgraston has again sent a large proportion of pupils to study STEM subjects at undergraduate level including medicine, environmental geoscience, astrophyiscs and aviation to mention a few. What is equally impressive is the breadth of subjects the girls have gone on to study at wide range of universities: English, French, Spanish, German, law, philosophy, politics and textile design.

Kilgraston Speech Day 2017
Parents and families travelled from across the world for this momentous occasion and enjoyed a day of celebrations with strawberries, champagne and homemade picnics on the lawn!
This year, Kilgraston was delighted to welcome Dr Anna Campbell as guest of honour who gave an inspirational speech at both the Junior Years and Senior ceremonies and presented over 140 prizes, ribbons and trophies. Speeches from the Chair of Governors, Tim Hall and Headmistress, Dorothy MacGinty followed. After an extremely busy year, the Head Girl team gave an emotional farewell speech to the Senior School highlighting the recent school achievements and their many happy memories of their time at Kilgraston.
Mrs MacGinty said, ” The weather was kind to us and it was fantastic to see so many pupils and parents enjoying the celebration of the girls’ successes. I was delighted to see the Upper 6th girls move on to the next stage of their lives. I wish this year’s leavers the very best for the future and look forward to welcoming the returning and new girls after the summer holiday.”

Alice in Wonderland
The young cast of Alice in Wonderland wowed the audiences last week with performances that revealed ‘inner fabulousity’. There was Alice with the White Rabbit in a fankle, forever late, chasing him down the Rabbit Hole, where she met with the Cheshire Cat, ate cookies which changed her shape and introduced her to Wonderland. Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee were scene stealers as were the Mad Hatter and the March Hare but it was the Caterpillar who got us all in the Zippa-dee-Doo-dah mood before the Queen of Hearts called for heads to roll.
The cast looked wonderful, sounded fabulous and gave everyone a lift as we come to the end of another Kilgraston year, party style!
Well done girls!
