Geography Field Trip L5
Last week our Lower 5 girls L5 travelled to Perth on their Geography field trip.
The girls carried out surveys of land use, building height, pedestrian, traffic numbers and environmental quality at 3 locations across the city.
As well as enhancing the teaching of the current Urban topic, the data collected will also be used for their N5 Geography Assignment.

Amazonia Day Trip by Hannah Dwyer
Amazonia by Hannah Dwyer Upper 2
We left school at 9:00 a.m. and we got there at 10:30 a.m. We had to take our coats off when we arrived because it was so hot, since the Amazon rainforest is hot and rainy.
I saw a monkey, poison dart frog and a macaw. I was communicating with it and our tour guide was very nice. She was called Sam. There was a nocturnal area and my favourite nocturnal creature is a kinkajou – it was so fluffy.
Then we got to hold some animals, a snake called Fanta, a gecko called Gordon (this was my favourite) and a tortoise called Shelley.
Then we had lunch which was so, so yummy!!! After all that we went on the carousel and it was so much fun!

Wintery scenes at Kilgraston
Like most of the UK, Kilgraston experience significant snow fall last week. Despite School being closed to Day pupils, the boarders continued to be busy with various activities and projects as well as having some fun in the snow.

Pictures below are of the girls taking part in the day.

Guide Dogs for the Blind visit
Kilgraston Lower 4 welcomed back Bob and Margaret with Guide dog puppies Amber (9 months) and Molly (9 weeks).
After Bob’s talk the girls were allowed to mix with the puppies, much to the delight of the girls and staff!
We are all very grateful to Bob and Margaret for coming in again today.

Skiing Trip to Civetta, Italy a huge success

Ski Trip - Civetta, Italy 2018
We set off with 21 girls and 2 staff to Civetta in Italy with great hopes and expectations for wonderful skiing over 5 days.
On arrival the resort did not disappoint us as it has a huge number of ski runs for all abilities.
Michele and Valleria were our skiing guides and they were fantastic with the groups who ranged from Upper 2 to Upper 6 girls.
We all had a fantastic time with 4 out of 5 days being full of sunshine and the snow was superb.
Our thanks go to Mrs Stott, Mrs Ferry and to our rep David Charrington for their support and care throughout the week.
Next skiing trip….. 2020

A wonderful experience for Katie and we wish her all the best.

Inter-House Quiz update
Never mind SuperBowl 52, the really important contest of early February took place in the Theatre earlier this week, in which Inchcolm outscored Moncreiffe by 29 points to 22 in the next match of the Inter-House Quiz. After one match each, the leaderboard now looks like this:
| W | D | L | F | A | +/- | Points | |
| 1Inchcolm | 1 | 0 | 0 | 29 | 22 | +7 | 3 |
| 2 Kinnoull | 1 | 0 | 0 | 26 | 24 | +2 | 3 |
| 3 Arran | 0 | 0 | 1 | 24 | 26 | -2 | 0 |
| 4 Moncreiffe | 0 | 0 | 1 | 22 | 29 | -7 | 0 |
There isn’t a match next week because it’s half term, and there isn’t a match on the first day back after half term because it’s the first day back after half term, so the next match will be in three weeks’ time between Moncreiffe and Kinnoull. There will then be matches every Monday through to the Easter holidays.
The full list of remaining fixtures is as follows:
Monday 12th February – HALF TERM
Monday 19th – No match (first day back)
Monday 26th February – Moncreiffe v Kinnoull
Monday 5th March – Inchcolm v Arran
Monday 12th March – Kinnoull v Inchcolm
Monday 19th March – Moncreiffe v Arran
Monday 26th March – semi-final (2nd v 3rd: teams tbc)
