Kilgraston’s tennis academy provides a comprehensive and engaging programme for our most committed and talented players.

At Kilgraston we work with girls of all ages and abilities, encouraging home-grown talent, particularly amongst the under 10s. With the assistance of former GB junior international and LTA Performance Coach, Hannah Pickford, we provide specialist coaching for our top players who compete at county and regional level. This is complemented by a fitness programme and schedule of competition play.

Performance players have the opportunity to take part in weekly training sessions at the Gannochy National Tennis Centre at Stirling University with Scotland’s former tennis coach of the year, Adam Brown.

With the school hosting the North of Scotland Autumn Open at Kilgraston for the first time in 2013, girls are not only encouraged to compete in tournaments across the country but also have the benefit of top competition on their doorstep.

Girls aspiring to the performance level are invited to join our Tennis Academy. With the help of our Performance Coach and Director of Sport, academy players benefit from a range of opportunities including individual coaching, squad training, sports psychology and nutrition advice. They are also encouraged to compete in LTA sanctioned ratings and ranking tournaments alongside interschool competitions.

Our players have access to eight new astroturf courts including three specifically for tennis and a five court tennis area also used for fitness, mini hockey, netball, football and basketball. We have an indoor court in the sports hall for when bad weather stops play outside.

Enjoyment of tennis is at the heart of our programme whatever a girl’s age or ability. We encourage girls to participate from a young age following our mini-tennis programme and older girls can also improve their game through regular squads and individual lessons. Parents too, are invited to come and play on Saturday lunchtimes during term time.

At heart, Kilgraston hopes to inspire pupils to achieve their goals in tennis and to continue to enjoy playing the sport into adulthood.
