Participation in sport is key to the development of character of the girls at Kilgraston School where we encourage all pupils to take part regardless of age and ability. All the activities throughout the week are varied from yoga and karate classes to team sports of hockey, netball and tennis, there is a sport for all.
Kilgraston is set within 54 acres of beautiful grounds which offer an enviable range of sporting facilities including an International sized all-weather hockey astroturf, eight floodlit all-weather tennis courts, riding school with livery, extensive playing fields, a superb sports hall, fitness suite and climbing wall, and a new 25m indoor swimming pool complex.
In addition, the majority of girls become involved in an extensive range of other after school sporting activities such as Aerobics, Badminton, Cricket, Fitness Gym, Football, Highland Dancing, Karate, Modern Dance, Rock Climbing, Rugby, Skiing, year-round Tennis Coaching, Yoga, Zumba dance, team practices for major sports and team fitness training sessions.
Sport is a significant part of life for every girl at Kilgraston, and our girls are encouraged to find the sport that suits them. For some, that may be ballet, yoga or zumba, whilst for others, the clashes of the hockey pitch, the personal challenge of cross-country running, the discipline of equestrian sports or the exhilaration of tennis is what really appeals. For them, the opportunity to truly excel in the sporting arena is one that is grasped with both hands – as exemplified by the Kilgraston girls that have been selected this year to compete at an International level in hockey, running, netball and equestrian vaulting.
Kilgraston’s sporting provision is headed by Pauline Stott, our Director of Sport and double Hockey Olympian. Pauline is a real role model to the girls, and is a key element of our success on the sports fields.
