Kilgraston has a flourishing instrumental program with a growing number of peripatetic music teachers visiting each week providing lessons in: Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Trumpet, Baritone, Trombone, Saxophone, Drum Kit, Piano, Voice and Clarsach.

Lessons are provided through the school day and last for 30 minutes. Lesson times are rotated to ensure that pupils do not miss the same class on a regular basis. All girls have the opportunity to participate in the many ensembles that rehearse weekly in the department. There are also opportunities for some students to participate in workshops delivered by professional musicians and a number of our girls have gained entry to the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, National Youth Choir of Scotland, National Childrens’ Orchestra of Scotland and the National Girls Choir of Scotland. Students are also offered the opportunity to sit Trinity Guild Hall and ABRSM Music Exams which take place throughout the year.
