Kilgraston and beyond: alumnae stories

We are always delighted to hear from former Kilgraston girls, but never more so at this time as many of them are supporting and helping their communities through this pandemic in different ways.

This week’s alumnae story was sent in by former Kilgraston girl, Mary McKenchie, who left Kilgraston in 2011.
Mary works for a care home group in the training department and would usually be delivering induction training to new staff joining the company, arranging other training sessions and coordinating staff to allow them to gain their SVQ qualifications. However, since the Covid-19 pandemic she has been working from home and delivering PPE to all their care homes across Fife.

Whilst also developing a new induction workbook for any staff who may join us during this time, Mary has also been ensuring that all homes have suitable IT deceives so that the residents are able to contact their loved ones who are unable to come in to the hope as well as running Facebook groups to ensure people are able to see how things are going in the care homes.

Mary has also created a thank you gift basket for all 540 staff member currently working within the care homes to ensure they feel valued and appriciated.

We are really enjoying reading about all the incredible work that former Kilgraston girls are doing to support people during this pandemic. If you have a story to share, email us at alumnae@kilgraston.com
