GIVING THE RDA A LEG-UP AT KILGRASTON’S EQUESTRIAN CENTRE

Kilgraston’s Equestrian Centre recently featured in the Perthshire Advertiser newspaper. The school has become the centre for the Glenfarg Riding for Disabled group, hosting twice-weekly sessions for children across the county. Rachael MacLean, Kilgraston’s Equestrian Manager, will be the Group Instructor, with all the ponies and horses being provided by the school. Headmistress of the school, Mrs MacGinty, said: “We are delighted to be offer help to this valuable organisation. The group caters for a range of disabilities and these sessions will allow local children, with physical, learning, behavioural and additional support need to benefit from fun, therapeutic lessons in a safe and supportive environment.”
Currently Glenfarg RDA has twice weekly visits from 14 riders, which the group is hoping to increase to 30 after the summer. At present three Kilgraston pupils and one parent – in addition to the eight volunteers who came from Glenfarg RDA – help with sessions, but more are desperately needed!
