Music is an important and vibrant part of the life at Kilgraston. The pupils are actively encouraged to learn and perform in the many choirs, ensembles and orchestras that meet weekly. The department itself has fourteen soundproofed practice and teaching rooms, including a digital recording suite and instruments are updated frequently. Only this year a new Kawai Grand Piano was purchased with the support of the Kilgraston Old Girls' Association for the theatre.

The Music Department is staffed by thirteen visiting specialists and one fulltime member of staff and the school offers lessons on all orchestral and electric instruments as well as Drums, Voice, Clarsach and Bagpipes.
