| DEAR PARENTS I am writing on Ash Wednesday, as I am about to depart to Mexico and the USA. The day is starting with Mass to mark the beginning of Lent, a period of forty days which the Church sets aside to prepare for Easter. It is a season for reflection and for taking stock of ourselves. SPONSORED CYCLE RUN The proceeds of the sponsorship money are being donated to the Society of the Sacred Heart to build a new primary school in Uganda. Girls are being encouraged to finish collecting donations as quickly as possible. ST CHARLES LWANGA, SECONDARY SCHOOL APPEAL Chrystal Rae and Agnes Mung have now raised over 600 for the purchase of an electronic balance, burettes and pipettes for the Chemistry department of St Charles school. We hope very much that parents, trustees or Governors still wishing to make a donation will do so before the end of term. Our target is 1000. We heard from Mr Callistas Baryabanohe last week saying that he had had great difficulty in preparing some of the chemicals needed for a practical examination. He had needed to drive 69 miles to weigh them out and on his return found that one had decomposed. We also received a lovely photograph of Olivia who attended Jubilate receiving her "Head Girls" certificate from Sister Noellina and Mr Baryabanohe. FOX HUNTING MARCH This has now been cancelled so there should not be a problem of girls attending the rehearsal of Joseph in the last weekend of term. THE LAST WEEKEND OF TERM The last weekend of term is an all-in for boarders. There will be an outing to Sunset Song at Perth Theatre on the Friday evening. On the Saturday morning, the inter house hockey tournament will take place. In the afternoon, there will be an outing to Edinburgh for the 5th and 6th year classes which we hope will conclude with an opportunity to see the film of "Captain Corellis Mandolin". On the Sunday there will be a hill walk up the Wallace Road to herald the arrival of spring. LENTEN SERVICE The term ends with a Lenten Service on Friday 23rd March at 12 noon. This is the first time we are holding one at the end of term and we very much look forward to parents being present. Girls will be free to leave from 12.40 though lunch will be available for parents and girls who wish. JOSEPH We are not able to advertise this in Perth because of copyright regulations but we hope very much that you will tell all of your family and friends about it. We are therefore enclosing two posters for each family residing in the UK. Joseph has been rehearsed over the last two terms. I know that it is going to be very good, well up to our usual high standard of Kilgraston productions and we hope very much that it will have full attendance. Please encourage everyone you know to come. We are not selling tickets but programmes will be on sale at the door at 2 for adults and 1 for children and OAPs. The Friends of Kilgraston will be helping with "Joseph and his Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat" and they are planning to do coffee and help sell programmes. They have now reconstituted and are looking forward very much to welcoming Mrs Charlotte Laing onto the committee. |

Mrs McLeod is kindly arranging it for us and we are very much looking forward to the event. BLAIR ATHOLL The Blair Atholl Horse Trials take place on Thursday 23rd Sunday 26th August. A team of girls from Kilgraston has been invited to help organise the dressage. We hope very much that this will be possible, please would anybody who is able to do this, contact my office and leave his or her name, and I shall ask Julia Sim, who is a most capable organiser to co-ordinate the event. Julia is a member of the Upper 6th and has almost single handed in charge of riding events this year. We are extremely grateful to her for her tremendous contribution. LAMDA EXAMINATIONS Lamda examinations are due to be held on Monday 23rd April. CONCERT Tickets will shortly be available for a very special concert, which will be held in the Dining Hall on Friday 20th April, beginning at 7.30pm. Please put this date in your diary and tell your friends. SAD NEWS We have recently heard the sad news of the death of Mrs Wormalds husband. Mrs Wormald taught Geography in the school for a long number of years and still helps with different events in the school. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.
