Tatler Schools Guide 2012

Kilgraston has once again been selected to join the 234 other schools that make up Tatler magazine’s annual Schools Guide. Here’s what Tatler had to say about our school:

Kilgraston has grown by more than 40 per cent over the past five years and begins this academic year with pupils at an all-time high. ‘The school is full now,’ they inform us with some relish; boarding is oversubscribed and governors have capped pupil numbers to keep the school’s intimate, family feel. Impressive stuff in these dicey times. The academic record is worth boasting about too - Kilgraston was third in Scotland last year for Advanced Higher results, and attributes this to its small class sizes (10 or fewer in the sixth form, around 15 lower down the school). It may be wee, but its facilities would do credit to a far bigger establishment: it boasts an on-site equestrian centre, for a start, and since 2006 there’s also been huge investment in a new theatre, dining room, sports pavillion and swimming-pool as well as hockey and tennis academies (the director of sport was GB hockey captain at the Sydney Olympics). And the school caterers won the Healthier Scotland Award last year - no deep-fried haggis here.
