Anne O'Keeffe
Ok, here is my version. I have found an old autograph book, with some clues.
Year: 1977
Front row from left:
Lena Sayers (PE/games), Sr Bystram (art), Senorita Amparo Ivars Sr Hannan (head and Latin teacher), Sr O'Brien (reverend mother), Sr Gertrude Swinton ( former head until 1974; came back some years later as librarian), Cathy McLaughlin ( teacher of Upper 3rd, juniors), Miss Cathy McFarlane (English; was from the US and was only there from '76-'77)
2nd row:
Sr Barbara Farquharson (RE, but went on to become reverend mother, much later), Sr Jean O'Kane (RE), Sr Sheila (infirmarian)?????, Nurse GorrieMrs Mills (piano), Sr 'Chivers' Civiera, (english and history), Mademoiselle Beatrice (surname unknown), Miss Peutherer (sp??) had only just succeeded Miss Jackson as choral/music teacher), Miss Pearson ( Latin and classics), Sr Smith in charge of a dormitory), Roberta McPhee (can't remember what she taught, she was new about then, but she smiled a lot), Mrs Blue (school secretary), Mrs Fisher ( Lower 3rd teacher; heavily pregnant with first child; she went on to have many), Sr McArdle ( can't remember her subject/area), Mrs Peddie (arithmetic and maths), Gina Wormald ( geography)
Third row:
Miss Scrimgeour (maths), Frances Thompson (science), Paul Williams (Spanish and French), Lindsay Dow (English), Mrs Bain (caterer and also taught me needlework),
Lots are missing from here: Sr Murray (history), Sr Lynch (junior dormitory), Sr Dwyer (senior dormitory and farm; later caterer), Sr Arrowsmith (mistress of discipline!), Sr Girvan (french) some would have still been wearing habits then; others stopped wearing them in 1974; some, like Sr Murray went back to wearing the veil and habit after 1978 when the new pope, john Paul II, spoke out about veils).
