Parent testimonial

"We are awestruck by the strong ethos towards empowering girls to try their hand at anything and the large number of extra-curricular school activities available and the strong emphasis on a well-rounded education. Everyone we have interacted with from Trish to Harry the bus driver have been kind and caring and we are in no doubt that sending our daughter to Kilgraston was the best decision we have made for her future."

Junior Years

Encouraging achievement across the curriculum.

Our Junior School introduces our pupils to our special Kilgraston care; the happy atmosphere of a family blended with an educational environment that encourages young children to develop to the very best of their individual abilities in sport, music, art, drama, technology and academics.

The Kilgraston Junior Years offers primary school education for boys and girls aged from five to twelve years old. Boarding available for girls only aged eight years old and above.

The focus is clearly on intellectual development, exploiting natural curiosity, personal endeavour, determination and achievement in all areas of the curriculum. Emphasis is placed on skills that allow individual pupils to pursue their learning in the classroom and beyond.

At the top of our Junior School the children are given responsibilities such as House Captains, Sports Captains, prefects or buddies. Pupils of all ages also join our Pupil Council, ‘Eco’ Committee, Charities Committee or become Librarians to help to develop their social awareness.

The Junior School is located within The Grange, a stunning conversion of Kilgraston’s 18th Century farm courtyard. The stimulating, attractive classrooms surround a magnificent glass-covered atrium. This excellent enclosed area is used for assemblies, performances, concerts, Scottish country dancing, highland dancing, indoor tennis and karate. It also comes into its own as an indoor covered playground on our rare rainy days!

But please don’t just take our word for it. Read what one of our pupils recently wrote about joining Kilgraston
